As additional routes are approved\, we will list them here\, so please check back often! \nThe Sand Hollow trails are rated anywhere from 2 to 9\, with most of the difficult obstacles having pass arounds. It is strongly encouraged that your SXS is at least 60″ wide\, with long travel suspension. 50″ trail version machines will struggle with most of the obstacles.

SUMMARY:Writing Effective Comments to Keep Our Trails Open Training
DESCRIPTION:The National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) plays a pivotal role by requiring federal agencies to assess the impact of their proposed actions. One crucial aspect of the NEPA process is the public comment period\, during which concerned individuals and organizations can provide feedback on proposed projects. Writing effective comments is a critical step in preserving access for all users to our public lands. UPLA together with BlueRibbon Coalition and Salt Lake Offroad Expo (SLOREX) are partnering to bring you a training seminar on how to write effective comments in NEPA actions. \nUnderstanding NEPA and Public Participation: NEPA\, enacted in 1970\, aims to integrate environmental considerations into federal decision-making processes. It mandates that federal agencies assess the environmental impact of proposed projects and involve the public in the decision-making process. Public participation is a cornerstone of NEPA\, as it recognizes the diverse perspectives and expertise that the public can bring to the table. \nThe Importance of Effective Comments: Effective comments play a vital role in influencing the outcome of NEPA actions. Agencies are required to consider and respond to substantive comments during the decision-making process\, making it crucial for comments to be well-reasoned\, fact-based\, and relevant to the environmental analysis. Well-crafted comments can highlight potential environmental concerns\, propose alternatives\, and contribute to a more comprehensive understanding of the project’s impact. \nChallenges in Comment Writing: Despite the importance of public participation\, many individuals and organizations face challenges in writing effective comments for NEPA actions. Common issues include a lack of understanding of the NEPA process\, technical complexities in project documentation\, and difficulties in navigating regulatory language. As a result\, comments may not effectively convey concerns\, suggestions\, or alternative solutions. \nThe Solution: UPLA\, BlueRibbon\, and SLOREX will be offering free training at the Mountain America Expo Center on February 29\, the day before SLOREX opens. The session will be recorded and professionally edited as a valuable online resource we can use in the future. \nSave the Date for now and Watch for more information about attending the session.

DESCRIPTION:We invite you to join us for the Winter 4×4 Jamboree held in Hurricane/St. George\, Utah\, (2 hours from Las Vegas)! \nThis spectacular event features world-class rock crawling combined with gorgeous views of Zion National Park\, Pine Valley Mountain\, Sand Hollow Reservoir and more. We offer more that 35 different trails in and around the spectacular Southwestern Utah area. \nThe Winter 4×4 Jamboree is a non-competitive trail run event for high clearance 4×4 vehicles where groups of participants are led on rated trails by experienced trail leaders and helpers. Trails are rated on a 10-point scale\, where a rating of 1 would be for graded roads that may be easily traveled by most cars and a rating of 10 is for purpose-built vehicles (buggies) with sophisticated suspensions and drivetrains operated by expert drivers.

DESCRIPTION:Join us for an evening of food\, fun\, and prizes. We will be giving away a CanAm 570 OHV\, multiple firearms\, and many other great prizes. A delicious meal will be catered by The Main Event. We expect this year’s even to be better than ever. As always\, all proceeds from this event go directly to benefit the Paiute Trail System. \nThe Paiute Trail Committee is a group of volunteers comprised of OHV enthusiasts and members from the Bureau of Land Management\, U.S. Forest Service\, Utah State Department of Natural Resources\, and State Department of Parks and Recreation who work to maintain\, preserve and improve our trail system. You may have eaten at one of the many picnic tables we put up around the mountains or used a map at one of the trailhead kiosks we helped build. We supply helmets to law enforcement personnel to give out free of charge to kids who need one and would otherwise be without. We also work with our various land management partners to maintain the trails\, keep the current trail structure in place\, and add new trails we feel will improve the system. \nWe gladly volunteer our time to keep the trail system we love up and going. The Friends of the Paiute Trail Banquet is an excellent way for all of us to share in that effort. Please join us for this very fun evening!

Please join us for the upcoming Paiute Trail Jamboree for more fun and more riding on the trail. \nSouth-Central Utah’s 2000+ mile Paiute ATV Trail System\, a trail system with no beginning and no end\, making it the largest in the nation! It passes through multiple towns and has side trails leading to others. Dirt Wheels magazine rated the Paiute ATV Trail as one of the top 10 trail systems in the country. It has been rated as one of the top 5 trails in the country by ATV Illustrated magazine. Many riders consider the Paiute Trial to be the TOP US trail system.
