January 19-21, 2017 Winter Jamboree huge success – in spite of the weather!

Hurricane – The 2017 Winter 4×4 Jamboree was a huge success in spite of three days of rainy skies. Over 500 vehicles from many states and Canada showed up for this event that is quickly becoming a nationally known and respected winter jeep event. Much of the proceeds from this event are donated to the UPLA to help with our activities and projects focused on keeping our beautiful trails open for public access. HURRICANE — The Desert Roads and Trails Society had some fun Saturday while doing some good helping to keep San

d Mountain and Sand Hollow State Park open and clean on National Public Lands day.

August 3, 2014 – Sand Mountain, OHV paradise or luxury development? 2 sides to proposed land exchange

WASHINGTON COUNTY – Within the last seven months, a group of concerned local citizens formed the Utah Public Lands Alliance, an organization whose mission is “preserving public lands for public use” and whose main concern (and the impetus behind its establishment) is a proposed 1,200-acre land swap on Sand Mountain, a place it calls “Your OHV Paradise” on its fliers. July 19, 2014 – BLM Seeks Public Comment on Proposed New Rules in SE Utah

ST. GEORGE – The BLM-Utah Canyon Country District is seeking public comment on proposed supplementary rules for public lands in the Moab and Monticello Field Offices. July 1, 2014 – New County Commissioner Replaces Denny Drake

ST. GEORGE – Victor Iverson is replacement commissioner for Denny Drake. Commissioner Drake is retiring a few months early to serve on an LDS mission. Commissioner Iverson was nominated as the republican candidate for the replacement seat this spring, and appointed as Drake’s temporary replacement by the republican chair. He will run for election in November. UPLA has met with him, and he is very well informed on the land use issues, especially regarding the proposed land exchange in Sand Mountain SRMA. We look forward to working with him, and wish him success in his new position.
